Although only 2 months has passed from the regime’s showcasing election with massive insurrections and their brutal suppression but, it appears that in this epoch of country’s history there has been a pressed timing; that is congestion and agglomeration of a number of adequate phenomena and struggle that through consecutive complex relations in such a short time, it has managed to comprise people’s demands and wishes changing rapidly and due to its course and people’s struggle methods change its direction and goals and the movement’s aim wholeheartedly. While the movement in its initial days was formed around the axis of protesting against widely seen cheating in election and so most slogans in gatherings then were chanting about getting back their votes and make election annulment and so forth[1] and therefore they turned out to be widely spread demonstration with reformists making lots of emphasis on having them non violent. But course of events, particularly brutal violence and severe action of the regime that caused lots of soil and blood mixture occurrence and also, inability and disappointment of reformists in getting the helms of protesting into their hands produced different perspective in contrast with that protesting as an alternative of the status quo. Of course this whole perspective and overthrowing the whole Islamic republic trend becoming the axis of people’s rally since June 20thonward does no mean that earlier such necessities and yearning for change did not exist in society but, it only is an emphasis upon the fact that unlike the past right now not only this is a necessity that appears possible and achievable by masses of people but, blood has been poured down, hanging poles places and the countdown for Islamic republic’s life is forced to began.
Therefore June 20th can be looked upon as a breaking point in history of Iranian people’s revolutionary movement that within this movement has bonded historical memories of different generations inside of the current movement. Be it those whom during the thunderous revolutionary struggles in ‘70s and bloody purging in ‘80s and, the new generation that were the inevitable children of the murky ruling of the Islamic Republic, on June 20th for the first time in a massive widespread platen they are against the Islamic Republic regime shoulder to shoulder. From June 20th it was when the slogans got different dye and scent; less of Allah o Akbar and, more of death to dictators. Gradually pictures of recent martyrs and apprehended fellows were the true heroine, heroes of the people replacing photos of Mousavi and Karoobi. On the other hand the peak of chant arrows moved from Ahmadinejad and election orchestrating team toward direction of the real evil center of the regime that is the supreme leader. “Khameneii is a killer, his supremeness is wrong” or, “Mojtaba (Khameneii’s son) die, you won’t take leadership.” Although radical chanting does not stand above regime itself per se but, it indicates changing goal. Although experience of June 15th demonstration of some millions of people did not occur again but post June 20th gatherings and protests were relatively more efficient and determinative than early insurrection day demonstrations. And that was not only due to militants getting more ripe during their struggles and public sentiments of people getting hurt after killings and violent suppressions by the regime, i.e. struggle form radicalizations but also due to radicalization of this movement content and goals that had brought about its own creative invented methods during these changes. While some like Ghnaji and Sazghara, etc. and many others are in their illusions that they are the ones who are forming the shape and formats of the revolutionary struggles of Iranian people and leading them in fact its is the current radical perspective of the current movement that places new forms of struggle upon people and these are masses in streets that impost their demands and methods to Mousavi, Karoobi and other inside and outside border guys who proclaim their being the leader. We must remember that revolutionary leaders and efficient forms of struggle come out from heart of the direct struggles of the people and, current struggle experience is its proof. Wide spread and scattered demonstrations in city and various neighborhoods with radical slogans and news about neighborhood organizing of protests that had kept repressing forces off guard and helpless are only a handful of the lots of revolutionary potentials of the movement that could not occur to the most optimist people few months before. Although we believe that not all objective revolutionary potentials of the people’s movement has not been projected in current slogans but what is there is defiance and ejectment of the regime and not an attempt to re establish it but, from now on this movement is without a doubt a revolutionary movement for overthrowing and, cannot be restrained within reform packages.
But meanwhile
there are reports about new chanting from political analyzers and active forces
both on the left and right saying as if not only time of regime fall has
arrived but, its progressive alternative is already shaped up with, “
Aside from discussing the success and popularity of this slogan among today protesters the questions comes in regard to which groups with what sort of interest are trying to theorize this slogan content and shove it in as the regime’s alternative. The clear thing is the fact that as a genuine slogan of the movement this slogan liberals and National Chauvinists are crying it out loud for what. Using historical anti Arabic sentiments that still has a ground among people and also anti Islamic sentiments of the people who have suffered Islamic fruits with their flesh and skins those forces are trying to impose the view that only an Iranian republic identity – read as Chauvinist Iranian Republic – with exaggerations in cultural dimension – could be able to free the freedom and independence fighters from the ruling regime’s bale and lead them to their aims.
But what makes it necessary to dig into this slogan at this point of history is the backward support of some of the self proclaimed socialist and progressives to it. In our view such trend within opposition forces has roots in a historical problem: lack of historical memories that is the chronic ailment of current generation. Historical memories, however painful they seem to be are necessary. To prevent a comic repeat of a tragedy reviewing history and historical incidents cannot be avoided within a nation minds collective. We have to recall the days when for the first time the weird Islamic Republic terms occurred within revolutionary events turbulences. Those days when such unbelievable title was imposed upon masses as the one and the only possible and legitimate alternative upon people due to progressives careless attitude many were being fooled with the idea that since being Islamic is a feature within majority of Iranian people therefore it is only in a symbolic different in title with other republics. But it did not take long to comprehend Islamic Republic’s true nature and what Islamic stands for and in a while Islamic virtue was imposed on many others’ movements. If slogan projection was not looked upon by progressives with wide ranged supports as only a symbolic term, then current regime rulers could not convince masses that it is the only possible alternative.
Also today,
clearing the word Islam from Islamic Republic does not clear away weigh of
fascism and exploitation from
Right now too, at
its best Iranian republic is an empty bowl that has a role in determining

Translator’s Note:
June 20th 1981 was another turning point in Iran’s post revolution time when first president Bani Sader had to escape Iran and after an explosion in Islamic Republic Party’s headquarter there was direct large confrontation in Tehran between People’s Mojahedin and Islamic regime supporters and, large number of arrest of all opposition organizations and parties, all left groups becoming illegal and unable to sell their papers ever since in streets that led to lots of executions.
[1] Most remarkable one of them that was popular among people was “Where’s my vote?” and “They stole my vote and are posing with it and, most radical ones were such as “We didn’t give martyrs for collusion, box has been touched so let’s count them” and…
