Free Reza Shahabi and other imprisoned Workers immediately and unconditionally!

Reza Shahabi board member of the Syndicate of Workers of Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company is incarcerated since June 12, 2010. The Revolutionary court announced to release him on a 60 million Toman (around 57,000 US Dollar) bail on October 09, 2010. With efforts of his wife and relatives the bail was provided and posted to the authorities of Islamic republic.

After four months the lawyers of Reza Shahabi have still no information about the charges against him or any details about his file.

Now that the judicial power and other cruel torturer have no evidence available to continue detaining Reza Shahabi, Behnam Ebrahim Zadeh and other labor activists, they are making their release conditioned by “collaboration” with prison authorities and judiciary and put them and their families under pressure.

As we announced and organized campaigns for release of Reza Shahabi and other imprisoned labor activists previously, we will carry on to watch the release status of incarcerated workers in Iran over the international labor organizations. We condemn any type of physical and psychological pressure on jailed workers and demand their immediate and unconditional release. We hereby appeal to all international labor organizations to do all possible for immediate and unconditional release of Reza Shahabi and all other imprisoned workers.

We, the activists organized in the Solidarity Committees with the Iranian Workers’ movement abroad of Iran, assure the workers and their families to do all possible to bring your voice to your fellow. We call all the labor activists and organizations to pursue the release of Reza Shahabi, Behnam Ebrhim Zadeh, Ebrahim Madadi, Mansour Osanloo, family members of those were jailed and killed after the election coup and students such as Ali Ajami.

The release of detained workers and other political activists is only possible through a comprehensive campaign both inside and outside of Iran against this brutal and exploitative system.
